The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a post-Doctoral Researcher (position # 4895), who will integrate with our existing research team and support an ongoing effort in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department to investigate improved methodology for various types of chemical flooding including polymers, surfactants, alkaline formulations and adjusted injection brine chemistry. The initial appointment is for one year with strong potential for extension based on funding availability and individual performance. Primary responsibilities will be the design, execution and interpretation of laboratory experiments and the operation and maintenance of our laboratory. The successful candidate will be expected to interact with graduate students, as well as prepare and deliver professional papers and reports. Other duties will include promoting enhanced oil recovery and transferring technology to Wyoming producers. The successful candidate will have appropriate laboratory experience, related background knowledge in polymer and surfactant chemistry and the demonstrable skills to conduct experiments and convert this information into quantitative geochemical reactive-transport models for reservoir production. Desirable academic qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering or a related field, however those with appropriate work experience will be considered as well. Compensation will be competitive and based on qualifications and experience. Review of applicants will start April 30 and we anticipate filling the position in summer of 2009.
The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute is funded by the Wyoming State Legislature to assist Wyoming producers with their enhanced oil recovery efforts through transfer of technical expertise and sponsorship of seminars and workshops.
